New Media II . 9 March 2017

I struggled a bit to pull this together. Mobile journalism is an evasive topic. I think we are on the verge of cutting edge modern technology regarding videos and videp sharing.

I successfully managed to shoot, edit and upload the video on my phone, with the help of a few friends. Thanks to Alex for her mobile editing software. I think Adobe Clip seemed to be a bit more helpful than KineMaster. (Sorry , Sihle)

Picking a single element from the budget speech to focus on seemed to be quite difficult. There were several prominent things spoken about, but not many related to me. So, I struggled to personalise a topic enough to assert myself in the form of a video project. After sitting with the 36 page budget speech for a few days, I realized that some conflicts of interest were covertly avoided. Such as, the money supposedly returned from Nkandla by President Zuma or the Gupta spenditure that went on with the corruption.

There was no mention of Nkandla, Gupta(s) or the value of money that was used by government personnel for personal use. (Rather, the percentage government personnel use decreased since last.)
After some brainstorming, I was able to secure an idea on how to depict this in a clip.

Videos are a fun thing to make. The use of visual and audio could create an awe in the viewer. The technology that we have could very easily be used to create short, impactful videos . Mobile journalism is the way forward, is what I learned from this project.

The topic of politics regarding the somewhat shambles of our government requires careful thought. I decided that I would make use of the Control+F function to search for important key words.

My video is not as clear as I would have liked it to be. Perhaps some context, in the form of a caption could place the video in the right mindset to make sense. Indeed, my message is that this budget speech is not as accurate as we would like it to be. And I did intended for it to be humorous.
